Deciduous Hardwood cuttings

Bek Hyland

Start Date: 28 May 2012

Aim: To propagate new plants from Deciduous hardwood cuttings

Method: I took cuttings from samples of Lonicera thibetica (Tibetan Honeysuckle) that Jacqueline had cut earlier in the day.

Using propagation mix I filled 1x 140 mm  pot.   I mixed up some rooting hormone (Esi-root-1.6 g/L, IBA NAA).  Using my secateurs I cut each clipping on a diagonal just under a node.    I then held the bottom of the cutting in the rooting hormone for a 15 seconds.

I then used a dibble stick to make a hole in the propagation mix and inserted the cutting, hormone down, into the hole and pressed lightly.  I inserted 17 cuttings in total into the  pot.

The cuttings were then labelled, watered and placed in the white shade house.

Results:
Will not know until next Semester as they take two months to take root.
